Dear Tornadoes:
I am Rafael A. Villalobos, the new principal at Booker T. Washington Senior High School. It is with great enthusiasm and commitment that I eagerly await the first day of school to meet the entire student body as well as work with the staff, parents and community members.
The Booker T. Washington Senior High School family will work diligently to raise the academic achievements of our students, thus preparing them to meet the demands of the 21st century. Every avenue needed to increase student achievement and promote higher academic programs, such as honors courses, advanced placement and dual enrollment will be at the forefront of every goal. Simultaneous to academics is the ability for every student to be involved in extra-curricular activities. Whether it is clubs, athletics and or community service it is vital that each student’s talent be a part of their learning experience at Booker T. Washington Senior High School. Make no mistake about it; raising the bar academically while instilling the proper character needed to compete in today’s global economy will happen. All avenues needed to achieve this success among our student body will be explored and rest assured that no rock will be left unturned. In doing so, graduation rates will continue to increase and more students will add to the successful graduates that are now alumni.
Booker T. Washington is a school filled with history and tradition. A school that has sent students all over the country to Ivy League Universities and its alumni are comprised of a multitude of leaders that are influential to the lives of our current students. Leaders that are symbols of success and admiration; such leaders serve and have served as government officials, community representatives, teachers, doctors, lawyers, business leaders, actors, singers, athletes and much more. Booker T Washington is a school that has much to offer, and I am fortunate to be your leader and be a part of this schools future accomplishment as we too make history.
There is no challenge too great, or task too impossible, if we work together to provide students the tools needed to compete in our ever changing world. The 2009-2010 school year will build on the traditions while paving a new future that will add to those established during the last 83 years.
It is with the utmost spirit that we at Booker T. Washington Senior High School know:
There is No Where to Run & No Where to Hide;
Tornadoes Always Lead with Pride
Sincerely,
Rafael A. Villalobos
