Mission Statement

The mission of the Student Services Department is to provide guidance and counseling assistance  in the growth and development of our students in regard to their educational, vocational-career, social, and personal potentials.  In carrying out this mission, the Student Services Department has a primary obligation to treat each student with respect as a unique individual.   In addition, the Department works jointly with our teachers and parents to assist our students in the development of decision-making skills that will result in the ability to make self-directed, realistic and responsible decisions affecting their lives.

Booker T. Washington Senior High  Student Services  Program

Services provided students are connected to a comprehensive counseling model which focuses on the needs of the students in three broad areas of development: academic, career and personal/social.  These areas are interrelated and cannot be addressed in isolation.  Comprehensive, developmental guidance services are designed for the benefit of all students.

SERVICES:  Developmental guidance and/or general counseling services regarding academic advisement,  school adjustment, personal-social problems, scheduling, attendance, career/vocational  issues, college admissions and placement assistance, test scheduling and test score interpretation are available from the counselors and specialists in the Student Services Department. Additional components of our student services program include, but are not limited to the following aspects:

Career and postsecondary planning                        Staff and parent training
Community service projects                                   Scholarships/financial aid information
